Business Advice

John Morgan has been providing business management advice to South West farmers for over 15 years. Business reviews focused on interpretation of business records and a thorough understanding of UK milk and livestock production enables John to come up with farm specific advice focused on boosting business profitability and capital wealth.

Ongoing business advice revolves around benchmarking individual farm performance on a per unit (litre, kg or tonne) basis against regional and national high performers. Opportunities identified via this benchmarking on on farm discussion are investigated and recommendations made to capitalise on them.

Gross Margin, and cash flow budgeting is completed as are rent tenders, contract farming agreements, agricultural justification for on farm development.

Briony Burge is increasingly delivering advice to South West farmers. Briony undertakes dairy costings and benchmarking for a range of farms in the South West both for Dairy Co under the Milkbench scheme and for private clients and farmer discussion groups.

Key enthusiasms are renewable energies and how to implement these on farm. Briony continues to deliver as an approved consultant for Business Link under the Resources for Farmers project looking to reduce on farm resource use and farm renewable energy options.

Briony is very much involved with helping farmers understand and comply with the new NVZ regulations primarily via a considerable number of one to one visits where Diffuse Water Pollution from Agriculture (DWPA) and Nitrate Vulnerable Zones (NVZ) issues have been discussed.
